Farm Fresh To You Box – 05/21 and a Week in Review
This past week has been a little bit rough. Miss Thing was having frequent Mamah Drahmah Trauhmah, which made life difficult for everyone at Casa Del. Loads of fun, I assure you. Things appear to be cooling off now though, so I have a small hope that the next week will be better. She’s been having some drahmah at school, which I think she has been taking out on us (lovely). Something about a supposed friend now going out with a boy that she really liked or some such – which is all rather silly, since she’s not allowed to date, but it’s of course a BIG DEAL to her. <insert parental eyeroll here> I am so glad I’m not a teenager. Anyways, aside from the drahmahs, I’ve also been busy making yummehs with my FFTY box from last week and (naturally) really excited about this week’s box.
I took my box out on the patio again this week to take pictures, and took a suggestion from a blog that Alison of Local Lemons mentioned about using white foam core board to bounce around light and create a better photograph – and I really like the effect, so I think I’ll have to do it again. (By the way – if you’re looking for other seasonal and local eating ideas, you should totally check out Local Lemons, she has some great recipes).
So here’s the summary version of the last week’s kitchen adventurin’

This week, I received:

- 3 Grapefruit
- 2 heads of Cauliflower
- 1 pint Strawberries
- 1 lb Avocado
- 1 pint Blue Berries
- 1 Small Watermelon
- 1 bunch Chard
- 3 stalks of Rhubarb

- 1 Bunch Nantes Carrots
- 3 Leeks

- 1 Portobella Mushroom
- 1/2 lb Snap Peas
- 1/2 lb Baby lettuce
- 1 apple
I was a little sad that I only received one tomato this week (and a slightly squished and leaky tomato that had to be used right away at that). But hopefully I’ll get more next week. (I heart tomatoes) And strangely, I received one lonely apple. I put him in the fridge with the ones leftover from last week though – so don’t worry, he has some friends now. Also, one of the stalks of rhubarb was camera-shy and hiding out near the bottom of the box, and I didn’t find him until after I’d taken the rhubarb picture, so he isn’t shown.

The photos look great!
