Chocolate Frosting

I used this recipe in my Cookie Sandwich recipe, but I’m sure it would be lovely on a cake or anyplace else where chocolate frosting would be desired. :-)


  • 1 lb Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 tbls butter
  • 4 oz Unsweetened Chocolate
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup of Heavy Whipping Cream, as needed


  • Place Chocolate and Butter in a small saucepan over low heat
  • Gently melt chocolate and butter, stirring often
  • Reserve 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar and set aside
  • Whip Remaining Powdered Sugar, vanilla and Sour Cream together with a whisk or mixer
  • Whip in melted Chocolate
  • Mix in reserved powdered sugar and/or cream until desired texture is achieved, if neccessary
  • Icing will thicken upon standing, so recommend using immediately
